FAQ

Q: What is HAssist?
A: HAssist is a software assistant for HockeyArena managers. It makes viewing and storing HockeyArena team's data easier and assists in some useful tasks.

Q: Is HAssist a freeware?
A: Yes, HAssist is freeware, you can use it free of charge. However, HockeyArena staff allows only sponsor pack owners to download data from the site automatically, so you'd better to have one.

Q: How to install HAssist?
A: Download and run the installation package and specify the folder you want to use.

Q: How to update HAssist installation with new version?
A: Download the new version package and install it in the same folder as your current HAssist installation. It will only overwrite executables, your data is safe and will be automatically updated as well (if needed)..

Q: How can I backup and restore HAssist data?
A: You have to backup the 'data' subfolder in the HAssist installation folder. You can restore it by overwriting the 'data' subfolder with the one you saved.

Q: I have downloaded and installed HAssist, but cannot download anything from HockeyArena?! It says that I'm not allowed to use it!
A: It means that you are using the alpha version of HAssist. Only a small group of select managers can use HAssist alpha versions. As the development had reached beta stage, everybody is allowed to use HAssist (with the restrictions set by HockeyArena staff as stated above) beta versions. If you look at the version of HAssist, there could be a letter at the end of it - letter 'a' means alpha version and letter 'b' means beta version.

Q: I was invited to be an alpha tester, but still could not use HAssist?
A: Please contact me by email (address at the bottom of the page), sending your HockeyArena login. Please don't send me your password :)

Q: The application shows my players in another positions than I'm using them!
A: This problem usually affects only wingers and centers. First you have to set your own weights for every position in Options, the default ones could vary greatly from yours. If HAssist still uses your players in wrong positions you can also manually change their main position by right clicking on the player and setting the desired position in the menu.

Q: I cannot move the position slider to the value "50", it's always at 49 or 51!
A: It appears I cannot fix it. You can, however, click left mouse button on the slider to make it active and then use left and right arrows on keyboard to set it precisely to the value you want.

Q: What is the expfactor and how do I use it?
A: The experience of the player is divided by expfactor, and player rating computed from skills is increased by an appropriate per cent value. If expfactor is zero, the player's experience is not included in the player's rating.

Q: Why do some of my players have an UNK nationality?
A: Please email me the nationality of the player and the 3-letter country code as seen in Players -> Contracts page. I was not sure of all the country codes, so there can still be a few errors with UNK - UNKnown nationality.
